This trio of brothers were part of an oops litter that was originally surrendered to the Gatineau SPCA and then transferred to the Rescue as they unfortunately did not have the capacity to keep them at the shelter.
We estimate that they were born some time in August of 2024, and whoever had them before did an amazing job socializing these boys and making sure they were friendly, adventurous and oh-so-sweet.
We would like to find these brothers a loving forever home where they will be given...

Cosmo and Quasar
Brothers Cosmo and Quasar are estimated to be about 1.5 years old.
They were originally purchased from Critter Jungle in Orleans, but after being with their family for almost a year, they unfortunately were no longer safe in their current home. With their best interest in mind, their family decided to surrender them to the Rescue.
Both boys are quiet, and more on the shy side. They require quite a bit of coaxing to get them to come out and explore. They definitely do still feel most comfor...

Finn and Chip
These sweet boys have already been passed around to two different homes at just an estimated 5-6 months old. Originally purchased by a teen, they were then passed on to the daughter of one of our adopters (without their mother's permission) and thus, ended up in our care.
These sweethearts just need a loving forever home that can help them build confidence and give them the stability and familiarity they need to thrive.
Despite being moved around so much, they are still very curious, altho...

Scarlet & Fitzgerald
Sweet ladies Scarlet and Fitzgerald were surrendered to the Rescue after their previous owner unfortunately could not longer take care of them.
A large part of that was because of Scarlet's ongoing eye issues and increasing vet bills.
As a hairless rat, Scarlet is and will continue to be very prone to eye infections and other eye-related issues. Although stable and healthy now after several rounds of treatment, there is always the chance that she will eventually need surgery to have both her...

Pablo and Salvador
We estimate that Pablo and Salvador were born some time in the beginning of 2024, making them about 7 or 8 months old currently. These two were abandoned at an apartment in Gatineau along with 15 other rats and were luckily brought to the SPCA by a kind human.
Strangely, the vets at the SPCA thought that they were unadoptable because they had "horrible teeth". We eventually found out it was because the vet saw that they had yellow teeth and thought it was a bad sign. We let them know that yel...

These boys were born some time around the Easter weekend of 2024. They were an oops litter from Peterborough where their previous human unfortunately allowed her male rat to get two of her female rats pregnant. Matilda and Wi...

Shucks & Jerry
Shucks and Jerry look like brothers and act like brothers, but surprisingly, they are not!
Jerry was originally adopted from the Rescue in June of 2023, however was returned to the Rescue in 2024. Shucks was originally adopted from the Montreal SPCA by that same person as a tiny palm-sized baby.
The two of them are inseparable!

Update: May 15, 2024. Unfortunately Sydney very rapidly developed symptoms of congestive heart failure. While she initially responded very well to lasiks + antibiotics, over the May long weekend, she had a sudden and severe decline. Mabel, Jasmine and Amelia
This adorable mother-daughter trio are perfect in every way!
We were told Mabel (mother), is about 1.5 years old, but we sincerely think she's closer to just 1 year old, as she still has so much energy and spunk. It's possible the previous owner got her age wrong since she herself got them from someone who had them before. Mabel is a total attention hog, and though she takes the longest to warm up to new people, once you have her trust, she'll be the one demand you pay attention to her.

Fern & Ivy
Sister Fern and Ivy were purchased by their previous owner from Pet Smart in May of 2023. Thus, we estimate that they are about 6 months old currently. Unfortunately their previous owner lost interest and thus these girls were banned to the garage until her father reached out to us and we were able to find a foster to take them in.
Since arriving in their new foster home, they have really come out of their shell and their personalities shine!
Below are a few words from their foster family:...

Wanda & Lilith (spayed)
Sisters Wanda and Lilith were part of a large seizure at the Montreal SPCA. We have very little information about them, except that it's suspected they were originally bred to be snake food. The Montreal SPCA found themselves with over 50 rats and very little space, so these two were transferred to us to give them a better chance of being adopted.
Unfortunately Wanda and Lilith arrived extremely scared. They would literally scream every time you touch them or even attempt to pick them up. Lil...

Serein & Tsunami
This pair of sisters were surrendered to by their previous owner who found herself unable to provide the care they needed.
The foster confessed that she may have chosen their names a little bit too soon. The first day she took them home, Serein found a cozy spot to lounge and took a long nap, while Tsunami spent her entire playtime tearing around the play room, trying to climb the walls. Thus, she decided to name the "calm" girl Serein.
Little did she know, within the next 24 hours, Serein...

Sakkari: This strong and friendly girl is a cuddler. She loves to snuggle in my neck and she can stay there for as long as I let her. She runs to the front of the cage whenever she hears us go by.
Aryna: My little drama queen! She lets out little screams (when she doesn't agree with my decisions of when we should interact), but don't let it fool you, it's all an act. She is a little more shy then Sakkari but has been coming out of her shell ...
