Meet Shrew & Titus, two baby baby who were born in early October 2016. These two were born and kept in a tiny hamster cage, 8″x10″ wide along with 21 other rats until they were surrendered to the Rescue.
At only 5 weeks old, they will soon be ready to find their forever homes. Right now, they are typical babies: sleeping, eating, pooping and bouncing around their cage like they have springs attached.
The ideal home for these boys would be one with a big cage they can grow into, lots of att...

Peter Pan (neutered) & Wesley
Wesley & Peter may look identical, but they certainly are very different personality-wise.
Peter absolutely loves to play, and even just the slightest tussle of his head or tickle on his shoulders will send him into a bouncing, running frenzy. Wesley on the other hand, is like the much more mature, calm older brother (he is older... but just by a month). He prefers to lay down in a comfy location and observe the world from there.
Both boys get extremely excited about food, licking your fin...

Stuart & Charlie
Stuart & Charlie are brothers who didn't have a great start to life. Unfortunately, they were both kept in the barest of cages, living on pine bedding, eating what looked like a mix of guinea pig pellets and bird seeds.
Stuart came in with a respiratory infection as well as a bizarre skin condition that looked slightly infected.
After 3 weeks of medication, as well as now being on proper bedding and quality food, Stuart's fur has completely grown back. Both boys are now a healthy weight an...

Danny is currently on antibiotics for a severe Respiratory and Urinary Tract Infection. He seems to have responded to the medication we...

Jack & Alex
Jack and Alex are two brothers who came from a negligent family. They meant well, but unfortunately failed to provide for these two boys. They arrived at the rescue skinny, skiddish and visibly on edge, even with each other.
Both boys have now been with their foster mom for a month, and their transformation has been amazing! You almost cannot recognize them anymore. Gone are the scared, wary boys who arrived, instead, these boys are now relaxed, eager to socialize and very easy to handle. Of ...

Gus & Jack
Meet brothers Gus and Jack. Even though they showed up covered in fleas with extremely thin, sparse fur, these boys were friendly as ever and always ready to give kisses.
At 20-22 months old, they aren't exactly young, but don't let their age put you off. These boys are still full of energy and have so much love to give. Jack (left) has an old eye injury that has left a white film over his eye. It does not bother him at all and he does not require any special treatment or care. Jack absolutel...

Rufus, Neil & Riley
Meet Rufus and his two sons, Neil & Riley. These three boys (along with their mom and sister - Chico and Picco) were dumped at the SPCA Montreal when the babies were just newborns. Considering their rough start to life, they have adjusted remarkably well!
Rufus (black) is every bit the responsible dad. He's the most anxious and wary of the three, and you can just tell he's warning his boys not to trust humans too much (just yet!) But we are working hard every day to gain his confidence. His t...

John Smith & Flynn Rider
Meet John Smith and his brother and best-friend, Flynn. The two are pretty much inseparable and like to get into all sorts of trouble together. Quite often, I find them guilty and covered in dirt, digging up my houseplants together. Other times, they climb up on an empty cage, even though they know they're not supposed to be there, and then they end up stuck and need help getting down. Both boys are about 6-7 months old and are almost done growing.
John Smith is the albino, and is the slightl...

Jacob
Sweet Jacob has come a very long way and anyone who meets him now would never guess that he used to be a terrified, aggressive rescue from a hoarder. Estimated to be just over 1 year old, Jacob has been neutered, properly socialized and now just wants a home with 2 or more female rats and a human lap to call home.
Although it will take a week or more for Jacob to warm up to you, once he does, he is the perfect cuddle-buddy and fellow couch-potato. He loves to just lay on your stomach or on yo...

Gaston & Chias
Meet Gaston and Chias who were abandoned by a "feeder breeder" in Toronto. Thankfully, our good friend Alex offered these brothers - and TWENTY TWO other rats - a safe home until they could be transferred to the Rescue in Ottawa. These two are the most friendly and are looking for a home where they will be allowed to have lengthy out-times to burn off all that excess energy....

Meeko & Fleek
Meeko and Fleek were transferred to us from the SPCA Outaouais.
These boys were abandoned at the SPCA in a cardboard box when they were only about a month old. Now, they are 5 months old and flourishing under the love of their foster mom. They are very good shoulder-riders, and while both are still a tad nervous about being picked up, they don't put up much of a fight. Once they are out and about, they love climbing up on you, and checking in to see what the human is doing.
These bonded b...

George, Franklin & Lucas
Meet George, Franklin & Lucas (left to right), three babies who were lucky to be saved and to meet each other.
Lucas was born when a pet store sold his pregnant young mother as a pet. Since she was a baby herself, she only gave birth to 3 little ones and he was the only boy. The girl who purchased his mother decided she could not keep him and so brought him to the Rescue. Franklin and Lucas were going to become snake food, but after a series of fortunate and not-so-fortunate events, they end...

Toby & Ben
Meet Toby & Ben. Probably the most adorable, active, puppy-like rats you will ever meet. When Toby and Ben are excited to see people they will drop everything and immediately run to the door. They are great for being picked up or held and are free to run on the ground because they come immediately when called.
Toby (black and white hooded) is more eager to please, whereas Ben is a tiny bit more independent and will sometimes play hard-to-get.
Both boys are about 4-5 months old and are look...

Guy & Stéphane *medical hold*
Meet brothers Guy and Stéphane!
These two nearly identical brothers were rescued along with 18 other rats from a horrible situation. Although they were terrified, quick to bite, and sick, with the amount of time and love their foster-dad has given them, both boys are now fully adoptable!
Guy is the more outgoing of the two brothers. He spends most of his time wondering around his foster dad's bedroom, going back to the cage only for food, water, or poop-breaks (he's well litter trained!). Gu...
