Brothers Ninja and Tato were part of a group of stray rats who were dumped outside and originally surrendered to the Gatineau SPCA. They were then later transferred to the Rescue as they unfortunately did not have the capacity to keep them at the shelter.
We estimate that they were born some time in March or April of 2024. Both boys are extremely sweet and docile and don't mind being handled, although Ninja is definitely the more outgoing one while Tato needs a little more patience and coaxin...

Jerry & Tommy
Jerry and Tommy were surrendered to the Rescue after their previous owner had to move and decided she couldn't take the pet rats with her. It just so happened that they were both still babies because she had just purchased them 3 weeks ago, but unfortunately she couldn't remember the name of the breeder she got Tommy from, and the pet store she bought Jerry from only allows 7 days to return an unwanted pet.
The good news is that we had a foster family become available, and so we were able to ...

Blizzard Boys
If you're looking to add some love and cuteness to your life (and a healthy dose of chaos) look no further! The Blizzard Boys are here! We estimate they were born some time mid-March 2023.
Originally surrendered through the SPCA Gatineau, they were immediately transferred to the Rescue due to the lack of space at the SPCA. They were part of an unplanned litter when their previous human found himself with too many rats and all of the sexes mixed up.
These boys are so sweet, so curious and f...

Peli & Mochi
These two sweet girls are estimated to be born in late November of early December of 2022. They were part of two oops litters from when a young man purchased rats from someone on Kijiji and the girls turned out to be pregnant.
Thankfully, he has been doing his best to take care care of them and to handle them every day, so both girls are already very friendly and sociable. All they need now, is a loving forever home that will give them tons of attention, lots of space to grow into, and the ca...

Oliver & Eli were born in April of 2021. They were initially purchased as pets for some children who unfortunately lost interested. A couple took them in thinking they could give them the care they needed, unfortunately they also ended up not being able to keep these boys.
Finally, they've landed with the Rescue where hopefully, third tim...

Shay & Lily
Sisters Shay & Lily are estimated to have been born in May of 2020, meaning they are just over 1 year old. We would strongly prefer that Shay & Lily be adopted with Cleo & Leila and will only allow them to be separated if the applicant already has an existing colony of rats.
You are unlikely to find more friendly, sociable or well-behaved rats anywhere. Aside from being soft, and cute as buttons, Shay & Lily are 100% liter trained, do not chew or destroy anything, are not picky about their ve...

Update: August 12, 2022. Deny has a skin infection and is slowly showing signs of improvement after several weeks of treatment. Unfortunately, she has now also developed three tumors: one in her groin and two more on her right hip. Due to her age and existing skin condition, she is not a candidate for surgery. She currently require...

Yara & Sanna
You will not find a more perfect pair of rats anywhere. Sisters Yara and Sanna are estimated to be born in July of 2020. They are sweet, attentive, brave, loving and so very smart. They know their names and come when call. Of the two, Yara is slightly more food motivated, while Sanna will literally forego a treat for the sake of playing and interacting with her favourite toy in the word: humans.
If anything, the only negative thing about these girls is that Sanna so desperately craves attenti...

Poppy, Robin & Vera (spayed)
Meet this perfect trio of tightly bonded girls. From front to back, they are Poppy (born Oct. 25, 2020), Robin and Vera.
Vera was found outside, skinny and covered in bite wounds. Thankfully, a kind person caught her and brought her to the Rescue. Unfortunately, while Vera was outside, she was also impregnated by a wild rat. Poppy is her daughter born at the Rescue exactly 20 days after her mother was rescued. We estimate Vera to be born around May or June of 2020. She is extremely adventurou...

Spud & Skadi
Sisters Spud & Skadi were born some time between June and July of 2020 when a girl brought home a pair of pet rats from a store without realizing that the store had given her a boy and a girl. Several months later, the girl found herself overwhelmed with many babies from a litter of rats that she had never intended to breed.
Luckily, the girl had done a wonderful job socializing all of the rats, and despite their cramped conditions, Spud & Skadi are extremely friendly, social and loving girls...

Arrielle & Ursula
Sisters Arrielle & Ursula are estimated to be born around July of 2020. They are both extremely curious and friendly and don't mind being picked up or handled. They prefer of course, to run and explore, but they're always willing to come to the door of the cage to see if the humans are there to hand out treats or to take them out for some run-around time.
These girls can also be adopted with their sisters, Babs & Galadriel.

Rowena
Update Jan. 28, 2021. Unfortunately, Cora had to be euthanized at the emergency vet early Thursday morning due to respiratory related complications. Cora had been battling chronic respiratory infections for well over a year. RIP little one.
Cora and Rowena are actually related. Cora was born Oct. 31, 2018, while Rowena was likely born 6 months earlier and was in fact Cora's grandmother. Both girls were taken from a backyard breeder who was primarily breeding snake food.

Quincy & Perceval

With just a drop of Revolution each, and a very thorough cage clean, these brothers are now healthy, curious, bouncy and ready to find that perfect forever home.
Although they may look identical, you can ea...

Peter Pan (neutered) & Wesley
Wesley & Peter may look identical, but they certainly are very different personality-wise.
Peter absolutely loves to play, and even just the slightest tussle of his head or tickle on his shoulders will send him into a bouncing, running frenzy. Wesley on the other hand, is like the much more mature, calm older brother (he is older... but just by a month). He prefers to lay down in a comfy location and observe the world from there.
Both boys get extremely excited about food, licking your fin...
