Radar & Oscar

Radar & Oscar

Radar, the black boy is from one of the two resulting litters from the Mascouche Breeder. He spent his first six weeks of life at the rescue before finding his forever home. He is extremely well socialized and friendly. Oscar, the tan boy, is from a small group of babies who were just surrendered after their human guardian found homes for the rest of his siblings. He is slightly younger than Radar, but the two get along extremely well.

Minuit

Minuit

This lovely lady is from one of the two resulting litters from the Mascouche Breeder. She lived the first six weeks of her life at the rescue and was extremely playful and cuddly. A gorgeous black and white dumbo, we’re so happy she has found a loving forever home that can give her tons of love and cuddles. She will be joining a lovely rat named Bisous who recently lost a cage mate. We’re so excited that this adoption ended in happy endings for not one, but two rats! minuit

Cassy & Jezzabell

Cassy & Jezzabell

These two darlings came to us from a horrible breeding situation in Mascouche, but you wouldn’t know it. Cassy is a firecracker of energy and loves exploring, but will come back for a cuddle to make sure you’re still there. Jezzabell is a little shy, but once she feels safe will settle down on your chest for cuddles and love. Both girls are an estimated 4 month old as of August 2014. These two gorgeous girls were adopted and are off to their new home in Kingston with Ashley! We’re super thrilled that these awesome girls have found a forever home that is just as fantastic as they are.

Caleese

Caleese

This little darling came to us from an intake pound called Auberg Zen in Laval QC. They give them 30 days at the pound. If they are not picked up by an adopter or another shelter, they are euthanized… She is so friendly, energetic, and brave! She loves exploring and getting into mischief – as well as visiting all the other rats in the rescue. She is also here to stay – she’s managed to wriggle her cute little face deep into Rachel’s heart, so has been given her forever home permanently with Rachel and the other friends awaiting adoption.

Shenzi, Banzai & Ed

Shenzi, Banzai & Ed

These three snuggly boys are 3 of the babies from the Mouscouche breeder rescue litters. They’re precocious and adorable and we are so ecstatic that they found a new, loving, home together. We can’t wait to see pictures of them growing up!

Cleo

Cleo

Cleo was one of 6 rats we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to rescue from a Gatineau pound who was not properly set up to care for rats. She has since blossomed into one of the alpha rats at her adoptive mom Karen’s home and is soaking in all the love and attention a rat could ask for along with her two other cage mates.

Angel

Angel

Angel was part of the Masouche breeder rescue. Extremely timid and afraid of hands at first, with lots of time, patience, and love from her adoptive mother, Karen, she has begun to come out of her shell and start to soak in all the love that’s being showered on her. She is now living with 4 other rats and is doing extremely well.

Kit & Skittles

Kit & Skittles

Kit & Skittles were surrendered by a well-meaning family who simply could not keep them due to allgergies. These two boys were inseperable yet had very different personalities. While Skittles was friendly and a little shy, Kit was defensive and tended to resort to biting when scared or nervous. These boys garnered quite a bit of attention due to Skittles beautiful markings, but potential adopters were put-off by Kit. Finally, along came their rat-dad, who was ready to love them and care for them by whatever means necessary.

Now living with 3 other brothers adopted from OPRats (Elvis, Romeo & Mercutio), these lucky boys are certainly having the time of their lives!

Ivy & Rue

Ivy & Rue

Sweet Ivy & Rue are a mother and daughter pair originally rescued from the Valleyfields SPCA. They are now living comfortably together with a family of animal-loving vets! These sweet girls are still a bit scared and unsure about people and our hands, but their new family will love them and work with them. Hooray for wonderful families!

Missy, Fawn, Finley & Ginger

Missy, Fawn, Finley & Ginger

Missy, Fawn, Finley and Ginger, otherwise known as the “Fearless Four”, were quite the opposite of what their name would suggest. After a horrible start to their young lives, we were thankfully able to rescue these girls as well as their 9 brothers. Hoping to find a single home for 4 nearly identical rats was no easy task, but patience and good luck paid off. These girls are now living in luxury with a family who love, cherish, and really go the extra mile to make sure they are now living the best possible life!

Elly & Ingrid

Elly & Ingrid

It can be said that Elly (left) & Ingrid were a pair made in rattie heaven. Both of these older girls had lost their previous cage-mates and were lonely. They accepted each other almost immediately and now live in a spacial Critter Nation together. Their mom is a loving parent who not only dotes on them, but will go the extra mile to make sure her girls are healthy and happy. Elly was definitely one of the lucky ones – she lived to a ripe old age of 3.5 years!

Lily, Lilea & Grace

Lily, Lilea & Grace

Of 8 nearly identical blonde sisters, Lily and Grace (above) were lucky enough to find a wonderful forever home. They now play and frolic with their auntie Lila (below) and their human family. Thank you to the family who opened their hearts and home to giving these girls a wonderful life – after all – no family is complete without a group of licky, fun-loving rats!

Alfred & Salvador

Alfred & Salvador

These boys are among the lucky ones. Alfred and Salvador are brothers who have always been well-loved and well taken care of. Their new mom spoils us with updates and funny stories about the boys’ latest antics. If only all rats in the world were so lucky! These two were adopted by Katie O’Reilly.

Pippa, Olive & Hexidecimal

Pippa, Olive & Hexidecimal

Say ‘hello’ to Pippa, Olive and Hexidecimal – Hex for short. These sisters were rescued from a horrible situation in Valleyfields Quebec where they were scheduled to be euthanized to make room for kittens at the local SPCA. Thankfully, with the help of a local animal-lover, we were able to save these three sisters and many more of their siblings. They now live in a safe home where their human parents are slowing winning them over with their patience and unwavering love.

Zed, Dexter & Icarus

Zed, Dexter & Icarus

These 3 brothers have gone from almost being snake food, to being 3 spoiled rats in a loving home. Their new human parents also adopted Viktor and Walter and they have resuced so many other animals – giving them a chance at a happy life. We are so happy they have gone to a loving home together!

Happy Update! Remember that left over snake food ad we replied to two months ago? Well, that boy has now been neutered and successfully integrated into a gaggle of gorgeous girls. Timmy is living the life! Thank you for adopting him Karen!

Strawberry, Blackberry, & Ladybug (Spotty)

Strawberry, Blackberry, & Ladybug (Spotty)

These three adorable, sweet baby girls were from the two litters from the Montreal Surrender (we combined the litters of Dixie and Jackie in order to help them better handle the work load of 21 (Dixie had 6 and Jackie had 15) babies. We are super excited that they’ve been adopted by a fantastic family that is so excited to welcome them into the fold.

Peanut & Reiki

Peanut & Reiki

Q-Tip (“Q” for short) is the beautiful black dumbo girl who unfortunately lost her sister. Her human parents were concerned with her advancing age and her lack of friends. They adopted Peanut and Reiki, two beautiful beige baby girls who took to Q almost immediately. Now all three girls can be found spending relaxing days in their massive playground and doing naughty things to keep their humans amused.

Rhea & Kali

Rhea & Kali

Rhea and Kali have stayed within the rescue due to some recurring respiratory issues. Dear Rhea is the sweetest, most loving rat and has a gentle nature that makes it hard not to fall in love. These two beautiful girls also live with Soleil & Gaia.

Soleil & Gaia

Soleil & Gaia

Both Soleil and Gaia came from very sad and neglectful previous homes. Little Soleil was a barely grown month-old baby, already separated from her family and given away when the snake wouldn’t eat her. Gaia was the extremely young mother and protector of a small liter of babies which she valiantly tried to raise in a jar set at the bottom of an otherwise empty cage. Gaia too, was meant to be snake food, but was too large to be eaten. These two extremely lucky girls who survived extraordinary circumstances met each other and immediately became bonded. They now live happily at the Rescue along with Rhea & Kali.

Scabbers, Pinky & Sandy

Scabbers, Pinky & Sandy

Scabbers, Pinky and Sandy have joined Stevie, an elder girl who was previously adopted from the Rescue. Having recently lost her sister, Stevie was in need of friends and her human mom was more than happy to welcome three more girls into their beautiful rat-family. Thank you Sarah for being a wonderful caring person and for again adopting and helping us save lives!

Roo & Roger

Roo & Roger

One-eyed Roo and her sweet, but slightly timid friend Roger make for quite the odd, but adorable couple. These two rats were both surrendered as part of a group, but due to various behavioral issues, had to be separated from their former cage-mates. After both underwent surgery and a recovery period, they were matched to each other precisely because of their slightly strange behaviors. As luck would have it, they clicked almost immediately. Roo and Roger will now live out the rest of their lives within the OPRats Rescue.

Romeo, Elvis & Mercutio

Romeo, Elvis & Mercutio

Romeo, Elvis and Mercutio are three extremely lucky brothers who literally went from a tiny crowded cage, straight into a forever home that’s best described as a little piece of ratty-heaven. These boys are now doted on, and allowed a level of freedom any rat would be so lucky to have. Heartfelt thanks to their wonderful rat-dad and mom for giving these boys a bright and happy future!

Riot & Rebel

Riot & Rebel

Riot & Rebel had an extremely hard start to life. These boys were banished to a boarding facility at the back of a veterinary clinic for a few weeks where they were surrounded by the sounds of panicked dogs and cats. When they were first rescued, Riot was a biter. He bit every foster parent who ever gave him a chance. Meanwhile, Rebel was so terrified he would defecate on the spot and refuse to move for hours on end. It was only by sheer luck and maybe a touch of fate that Terri found us and inquired about these boys who we thought would never find a home. Not only was their new mom unfazed by the fact that she could be bleeding, she purposely wanted to adopt these boys because she knew they were special needs and that no one else would ever give them a second look.

It took months and months of patience, kindness and love, but Terri’s consistence and persistence in winning over their trust has finally paid off. Now calm, happy, and no longer biting, Riot and Rebel finally get to live their lives as happy, spoiled, loving boys. Thank you so much for your love and dedication, Terri!
