Brothers Ninja and Tato were part of a group of stray rats who were dumped outside and originally surrendered to the Gatineau SPCA. They were then later transferred to the Rescue as they unfortunately did not have the capacity to keep them at the shelter.
We estimate that they were born some time in March or April of 2024. Both boys are extremely sweet and docile and don't mind being handled, although Ninja is definitely the more outgoing one while Tato needs a little more patience and coaxin...

Cosmo and Quasar
Brothers Cosmo and Quasar are estimated to be about 1.5 years old.
They were originally purchased from Critter Jungle in Orleans, but after being with their family for almost a year, they unfortunately were no longer safe in their current home. With their best interest in mind, their family decided to surrender them to the Rescue.
Both boys are quiet, and more on the shy side. They require quite a bit of coaxing to get them to come out and explore. They definitely do still feel most comfor...

Finn and Chip
These sweet boys have already been passed around to two different homes at just an estimated 5-6 months old. Originally purchased by a teen, they were then passed on to the daughter of one of our adopters (without their mother's permission) and thus, ended up in our care.
These sweethearts just need a loving forever home that can help them build confidence and give them the stability and familiarity they need to thrive.
Despite being moved around so much, they are still very curious, altho...

Scarlet & Fitzgerald
Sweet ladies Scarlet and Fitzgerald were surrendered to the Rescue after their previous owner unfortunately could not longer take care of them.
A large part of that was because of Scarlet's ongoing eye issues and increasing vet bills.
As a hairless rat, Scarlet is and will continue to be very prone to eye infections and other eye-related issues. Although stable and healthy now after several rounds of treatment, there is always the chance that she will eventually need surgery to have both her...

Pablo and Salvador
We estimate that Pablo and Salvador were born some time in the beginning of 2024, making them about 7 or 8 months old currently. These two were abandoned at an apartment in Gatineau along with 15 other rats and were luckily brought to the SPCA by a kind human.
Strangely, the vets at the SPCA thought that they were unadoptable because they had "horrible teeth". We eventually found out it was because the vet saw that they had yellow teeth and thought it was a bad sign. We let them know that yel...

Update: April 29, 2024
Mallow & Boodle will need a final treatment of parasite medication on May 13, 2024. Potential adopters need to be aware and willing to apply a simple topical solution provided by the Rescue on that date and to continue to monitor for symptoms, if required.
Mallow & Boodle were originally adopted from the Montreal SPCA as tiny babies, then surrendered to the Rescue along with the sweet Shucks and Jerry.
These two boys are a little more unsure about being handled, bu...
