Sweet ladies Scarlet and Fitzgerald were surrendered to the Rescue after their previous owner unfortunately could not longer take care of them.
A large part of that was because of Scarlet’s ongoing eye issues and increasing vet bills.
As a hairless rat, Scarlet is and will continue to be very prone to eye infections and other eye-related issues. Although stable and healthy now after several rounds of treatment, there is always the chance that she will eventually need surgery to have both her eyes removed if a worse infection occurs.
Anyone who wants to adopt these girls must be aware of the risks and the extra care needed.
But onto the good stuff: these girls are the loveliest, sweetest girls imaginable. Below are a few words from their foster.
Scarlet: “Loves people, not shy at all and also loves adventure. Is definitely partly or mostly blind, so she’ll end up somewhere she doesn’t know how to get down from and will need saving. She’s always cuddling up with her fur-ed sisters, probably for warmth”
Fitzgerald: “A little shy at first, but very gentle, sweet and kind. Always up for an adventure. She’s always the first to leave the cage and loves snacking.”
Both: “Any time you walk in the room they get really excited and want to be let out to say Hi!”
