Update: Aug. 30th.
Black Jack has now been introduced to the beautiful and lively Sadie! These two make such a wonderful pair and are looking for a loving home together.
Meet beautiful boy Black Jack.
This boy was found on the side of the highway in a cardboard box in St. Marthe Quebec along with 23 other rats. They were incredibly lucky that a kindhearted lady happened to be driving by and contacted a local pound who picked up the rats. All the males in this group were eventually transferred to the Ottawa Pet Rat Rescue for a better chance at finding a home.
Unfortunately, due to their unknown history, we can only estimate that Black Jack is between 6-10 months old.
Due to some hormone-related aggressive behaviour, Black Jack was neutered in May, 2019.
While this has helped Black Jack calm down a LOT, he is currently still in the care of an experienced foster as he can still bite at you if not approached properly.
Because of this, Black Jack is ONLY available for adoption to experienced rat guardians who has an existing colony of female rats or sweet-natured male rats.
Black Jack’s new home must be willing to continue socializing him and working with his insecurities to help him become a happy, friendly rat.
To cover some of Black Jack’s medical costs, his adoption fee is $60.
Please fill out an adoption application form if you feel your home is the right fit for him.
