These two sisters are looking for a patient, understanding, loving family who has experience with rats, or are willing to work with them, through thick and thin. They were rescued from a very bad situation along with 18 other rats, many of whom will also need a special home.
Eponine and Pierrette have both come so far. Out of all of the girls from this large rescue, they have adjusted most quickly to new situations. In February 2016, both girls presented with a small mammary tumor in their groin area. Their surgeries were successful and both girls had their respective tumors removed within a week of each other. Following the surgery, their tumors were sent to a lab in the United States where they qualified to participate in a case study.
Both Eponine and Pierrette have a Deslorelin Implant which will hopefully block prolactin secretion which in turn should prevent future mammary tumors as well as Pituitary Tumors.
Despite everything these girls have been through, they are just looking for a loving, calm forever home where they will be loved and understood. Due to their participation in the case study, Eponine and Pierrette’s health and veterinary records must be submitted to the Rescue, even after adoption.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us, or fill out an adoption application.
